Dave’s Faves – the first of 2012: Lawson-Menzies Quarterly Auction

Can you believe it … after the break, fine art auctions are well and truly back on the agenda.

The year is kicked off this Thursday, 23 February, by Lawson-Menzies at their Kensington premises in Sydney. We attended the opening on Wednesday and had the opportunity to pre-inspect all 314 works on offer.

David has of course made his very personal selection and comments on 20 of the works to go under the hammer.

Lot 10 – Adam Cullen, Ned Kelly 1880, est. $8,000-12,000. Don’t shoot me – Adam.
Lot 23 – Fred Williams, Trapeze 1955-56, est. $2,500-3,500. Try and find another one!
Lot 24 – Fred Williams, Windmill Girls 1955-56, est. $2,500-3,500. Connoisseur print collectors will be scrambling
Lot 31 – Bertram MacKennal, Circe 1893, est. $10,000-15,000. Brilliant bronze beauty
Lot 38 – Dale Frank, Untitled 2007, est $12,000-16,000. If I could eat a painting, it would have to be a Dale Frank.

Streeton
