Dave’s Faves for the Deutscher + Hackett Auction April 2019

The first 8 lots of the Deutscher + Hackett sale on 10 April 2019 in Sydney contain four outstanding works by some of the Australian masters of the abstract from the 1960s to the contemporary (Balson, Miller, Audette and Frank), a beautiful selection for the connoisseur of non-figurative art.

This serves as the lead-in to the big bang offering of the night: lots 9 to 20 are labelled “major Australian works of art from an important private collection, United Kingdom”, and deservedly so.

Lot 9 presents Charles Blackman’s “Alice on the Table”, not simply the start, but the painting carrying the greatest expectations of the 12 lots. From the highly acclaimed and beloved “Alice” series, created in 1956, it is estimated at $1,500,000 to $2,000,000.

Have a closer look at Dave’s Faves below, and you will notice that David has picked quite a few from this spectacular offering.

As we have come to expect and love in the Deutscher + Hackett sales, the 111 lots offer the discerning collector an attractive selection of artworks from the colonial to the contemporary, ranging from the today less well known Henry James Johnstone to current favourites such as Cressida Campbell.

We look forward to the viewings:

in Melbourne from 28 to 31 March at 105 Commercial Road, South Yarra

in Sydney from 4 to 10 April, 16 Goodhope Street, Paddington.

Online viewing is always open at the Deutscher + Hackett website.

The auction is held on 10 April 2019, 7 pm, at the Cell Block Theatre at the National Art School, Forbes Street, Sydney.
