Dave’s Faves Back by Popular Demand For Bonhams September Fine Art Auction

Dale Frank Abstract Painting

The Bonhams winter art auction re-kindled David’s enthusiasm for his tongue-in-cheek take on the offerings in selected Australian fine art auctions.

With 49 lots, it is a tight selection which comprises some outstanding paintings by Australian greats. First and foremost we have to mention a star of Australian impressionism: Arthur Streeton’s “Mosman Bay”, c1907.  It comes with the highest estimates of the evening at $300,000 to $500,000.

An exquisite print in tondo format by the highly sought after Cressida Campbell is destined to grab collectors’ attention. Dating from 2022, it is from an edition of 75, and with estimates of  $6,000 to $9,000, watch it fly.

At the other end of the spectrum, the sale presents us with two of Dale Frank’s bold large abstract riots of colour, including a signature long title for lot 19.

You can catch the auction previews in Melbourne and Sydney:

Melbourne from 29 August to 1 September at 1130 High Street, Armadale

Sydney from 6 to 10 September at 168 Queen Street, Wollahra.

The auction is held on 10 September, 6 pm, at the Bonhams premises in Woollahra.

All artworks are also on view online at Bonhams
